When the miserly Scrooge is visited by the ghost of his old partner, Jacob Marley, he decides to change his ways - for Christmas and for ever. Marley's ghost sends down three spirits to Scrooge: Christmas Past, Christmas Present and Christmas Future.
In these visions Scrooge sees his own joys and sorrows and those of the people around him. He witnesses the modest festivities of the poor Cratchit family and comes to realise that he not only has the power to be happy himself, but also to bring happiness to others.
One of Dickens's most popular stories, A Christmas Carol continues to delight adults and children alike.
